Yard Power. Here is an original photo that I took in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 2 September 1960. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8906, an AS-16M road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in April of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. It is pulling a short string of gondolas from Sender's Scrap Yard into the Hollidaysburg Yards. Note the three Crewmen: one at the right, one on the front of the engine, and one who has just thrown the switch for the train to cross over to the other track. Photo taken at the Bedford Street Crossing, adjacent to the Passenger Station. |
